Internship

Following a successful application and interview process I took up my role on a 9-week summer internship with White Willow Partners.

For most of my placement, I worked closely with the lead consultant, Carrie White. The work was varied but one of my key tasks was to develop training programs. These were designed for interns working in investment management companies. A significant amount of White Willow's work is based on training and coaching, so to have been involved in this aspect of the business was very interesting.

I also had the opportunity to learn about psychometric tests that people in human resources use, such as Insights Discovery. I was able to complete one of these tests myself and found it to be extremely interesting. To gain experience in the wider operation of the company I took part in creating brochures, writing reports, and making process flows. The variety of work allowed me to pick up on lots of new skills.

There were lots of things I really like about the internship, one of which was that the working time and method was quite flexible, which meant that I could work at my own pace while implementing my own ideas in my work. My workload was clearly communicated and organised, so I always knew what I had to do.

I was given lots of responsibility during the internship, which was a good thing as I learned to manage my projects independently and got to experience working in an HR consultancy firm. My superior also monitored my work progress frequently and provided support. My co-workers were very friendly, and I was never afraid to ask questions. Unfortunately, I did not get to shadow the lead consultant or meet my co-workers in person due to logistics.  However, this did not hinder the overall experience and the freedom of remote working was a plus.

Overall, the internship was very insightful, and I would recommend others to apply for this opportunity as well!

Oscar was our first Intern and I believe we all found the whole experience mutually beneficial and took a great deal away from the placement.  We’ve already began planning an exciting programme for our next placement.
